NEW! Trivia Night rules

If you attended last Friday’s Trivia Night (“Atlantic Canada,” hosted by Dutch Galaxy), then you are already aware that the Callahan’s staff has made some very interesting revisions to the rules. Specifically, the rules for Trivia WINNERS have changed, and in a very cool way!

If you win Trivia, you now have several choices. First, you can host Trivia, pick the topic and write the questions, just as before. That hasn’t gone away. However, if you prefer, you can now choose from two other options:

1. You can bribe the Place’s staff to write the questions. Yes, really! For L$2000, we pick the topic and write the questions. Another option, which costs L$4000, is that you  get to pick the topic and we’ll write the questions. You can still ask the questions if you’d like–and, if you’d like you can even PARTICIPATE!  We’ll just give you a copy of the questions without the answers, and verify if answers are right or wrong during the event.
2. You can choose to host a completely different type of event. Want to try something new? Prefer to play a game or DJ or something else? It doesn’t have to be a Trivia Night at all!

The Cigar Box

Hey folks,

The way that Callahan’s in Second Life is funded is truly through donations. It’s the main way that it gets to stay on the grid. This month, the Cigar Box is looking very low. Even if you don’t get a chance to stop in for regular events, please take a moment (and some L$) to make sure that the Place gets to stay inworld. It is always much appreciated.

Fall Dispatch from Callahan’s

Welcome back, Callahooligans!  Here’s what’s up:

• We’re back on the regular fall schedule!  Join host Dutch Galaxy for SPACE Trivia Night, Friday, September 6th at 5:30 pm. Now, whether that’s the space way out from our planet, the space you measure, or the space between our ears, we don’t know. So we can all find out.
• “Welcome Back” annual party is Tuesday, September 10th at 6 pm. Join us for fun, dancing, and I might put out a Riddle Board. It’s time to get back into the swing of the Place!
• We need a new(ish) Patron-At-Large. Julianna Seriman has graciously continued in this role for more than her allotted terms. It is a VERY small time commitment and you don’t have to know everything about everything. It gives you the opportunity to provide input on what happens at Callahan’s Place, and we really need that…and YOU. If you’ve done this in the past, it’s OK. If you’ve never done it and you’re as nervous as a all get out, it’s OK. Please IM Leb or Dutch…pretty please?

Spring dispatch from Callahan’s

It’s been a bit! It’s amazing how quickly one falls behind when RL is so darn crazy all the time.  Adulting is very time-consuming…darn it.

So, here’s some updates, in no particular order;

• Hard to believe, but we’re not far off from starting our summer schedule soon. After Memorial Day, Fridays will go to an “every other” schedule. That means NO event on May 31st, then an event on June 7th, then every other week after that. Undays are always on Tuesdays, summer or no.
• You may have noticed that the area across from the Place has been cleared of the little beach houses/art walk. I’m seriously thinking about putting a house there, or putting up a skybox or two, to rent to Callahooligans. We need a more regular source of income to keep our sim, folks. The reality is, I’ve been picking up the tab every month when the cigar box comes up short–since 2010. It’s getting harder for me to keep up with that. Would YOU be interested in a rental? Please IM me!
• Speaking of the cigar box, it’s really rather underfunded right now. Can you please stop in and add a few L$?
• Julianna will be reaching the end of her term as Patron-At-Large in August. (Her THIRD!). We’d like to open it up to someone new, or give a second go-round to someone who has only served one term previously.  What do you have to do? Attend one meeting per quarter, and host one Unday per month. That’s it! And you get to give your ideas and feedback for what happens at our Place. Want to know more? Give me (or any senior staff person) a holler.
